You scream I scream We all scream for Ice Cream
Every year in the beginning of summer I empty my freezer to make space. For every summer I start making the much awaited dessert!!
Thanks to my friend Vidya I have a foolproof method of cooling down.
Here is what you will need for the base.
½ litre high fat milk
1 ½ tblspn corn flour
1 ½ tblspn GMS powder
⅛ sp alginet powder ( a pinch)
8 tblspn sugar
3 tblspn milk powder
1. Mix all the ingredients in a kadhai/wok.
2. Heat on low flame till it boils stirring constantly with a slotted spoon (this step is most important).
3. Cool and set in the freezer.
4. Your base is ready.
For the ice cream:
½ teaspoon essence
¼ teaspoon colour
½ cup cream
1. Take a big vessel and add all the ingredients.
2. With the beater start beating the base .
3. Take care to turn the vessel in one direction only.
4. The volume of the ice cream increases. To give you a rough idea, for I never measure I had about 2 litres of ice cream.
Serve with any sauce of your choice, nuts, and fruits!!
P.S. For chocolate base add 2 tblspn cocoa and ⅛ spoon coffee. While whipping use ¼ teaspoon chocolate essence.

I love making my own ice cream. This one looks delicious!
awesome preparations. am tempted to try this but do we get these materials easily in the supermarket?
@ Priya: Not fair I make the ice creams and you get the ice cream maker. Now I am waiting for delicious ice creams from you! 😀
@ Sayantani: GMS and alginet I have brought from Mumbai but I believe they are available here too in Goa so you will have to check it out in novelty cooking stores. Not too sure about supermarkets. Since you need very little I goes on and on.

Yummy and tempting. We do the same thing in summers. We specially wait for mangoes and homemade icecreams this weather.... hey I've shared few awards with u, please accept it.
Archuuu....Why Why...why r u making us drool with so many ice cream delights:-)
I will pick the strawberry:-)
Ask u ..whatz GMS powder?
Thanks Samira for sharing your awards with me.
@Ramya GMS powder is a softner whose full form is (Glycerol Mono Sterate). Alginet prevents ice crystals in the ice cream. you can also use CMS powder in its place CMS is(Carboxy methyl cellulose).
Wat a lovely and cool spreads of ice creams Archana! This pics itself taking away the heat from here ;-)You have listed all of family's favorites here.
This was the way my mon was making ice cream...adding GMS n CMC n all..but I never attempted it so far
Is it pos to be make the icecream without the gms and the alginet powders.
@ Parthibha! Glad to know I am on the right track.
@Roda I believe you can. The 2 powders are softeners and then you get the smooth texture. If you don't want to use them eggs will be next best option.
