Why Tender Coconut Falooda?
Being hot and humid we generally tend to search for new ways to hydrate ourselves. There are times when I just soak cucumber and lemon in water to make infused water you can add salt to it if you like.
But the best is when we can get fresh tender coconut( since it rains getting someone to climb the coconut tree is dangerous). So we get the coconuts and tender coconuts after rains. Around the time of Ganesh Chathurthi, the coconut plucker called “padeli” comes to pluck coconuts.
Anyway, when I got tender coconut this time it was a big bunch of about 10-15 coconuts. Thought you can drink coconut water all day round without side effects, 10-15? becomes difficult! Also, once you become used to fresh sweet tender coconut the next day we do not enjoy it much. So Falooda!
Now that I have called it Falooda you will say where are the basil or sabja seeds? Where are the vermicelli and the coloured sugar syrup? This is not Falooda! I agree I had the same reaction however when I was first served this drink in a restaurant! The owner Saira, called it Falooda I do not want to change the name. Call it milkshake I am okay with it.
How do I use the 15 tender coconuts became a big question? Have you got the same problem?
I used them to make this excellent Tender Coconut Falooda, Tender Coconut Jelly and Tender Coconut Ice cream. You can also add it to fruit juices like pineapple juice top it with ice cream. What will you make? some of my friends have made Elaneer Payasam, Tender Coconut Pudding and Peach and Pineapple Coconut Water Popsicle try them out too.
Why drink Tender Coconut Water?
why drink TenI make it a point whenever we are travelling to drink tender coconut water, why?
Tender coconut is pure and a source of electrolytes, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, complex carbohydrates. The best part is it comes packaged in a tamper-proof the coconut husk. The best hydrating summer coolers mankind can get.
You can be made for occasions like kids parties, kitty parties, get-togethers. But what is stopping you from having it as your juice for breakfast or even a snack?
So let us get down to making this simple and yet delicious Tender Coconut Falooda. There is no such thing as recipe just guidelines adjust the ingredients to suit your taste.
Ingredients Elaneer Milk Shake:
- Tender Coconut: I used all the flesh that was of medium thickness and all from the water in the coconut.
- Milk: I have used regular milk, you can use skimmed, plant-based milk or vegan milk like almond milk, coconut, rice milk, soy milk, oats milk of your choice.
- Sugar: This is optional use sugar if needed.
Method of making Elaneer Milk Shake:
- Cut the coconut flesh into small cubes. Reserve a few cubes.
- In the blender jar of the mixer add the rest of the coconut flesh, water from the coconut, milk and whizz it.
- Check if you need sugar add it and whizz again.
- Serve in a glass add the reserved tender coconut.

Equipment
- Blender
Ingredients
- 1 tender coconut flesh medium thick
- Water from the tender coconut
- ½ cup Milk chilled
- 1 tablespoon Sugar optional
Instructions
- Cut the coconut flesh into small cubes. Reserve a few cubes.
- In the blender jar of the mixer add the rest of the coconut flesh, water from the coconut, milk and whizz it.
- Check if you need sugar add it and whizz again.
- Add Elaneer Milkshake in a glass. Top it with the reserved tender coconut.
- Serve Chilled.
Notes
- Serve topped with vanilla ice cream.
- In case you are serving a diabetic avoid the sugar.
- In case you want a Vegan Tender Coconut Falooda use Plant-Based milk like Almond milk, Coconut milk.

This looks so refreshing. I want huge glasses of these during the summers, which by the way have way early than expected in Mumbai and has been off to a very bad start already. Tender coconut is a wonderful ingredient, natural and when combined with the cool ice cream would be super good.

Such a simple and yet an absolutely healthy recipe. We usually just blend tender coconut with the coconut water but love the idea of using milk to prepare a cooling drink.
