What is Bhel Puri?
Bhel Puri is a famous Indian puffed rice chaat recipe. It's made with murmura (puffed rice), crunchy papdi (crispy flat puris), finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and boiled potatoes.
While others use two classic chutneys to bring the Bhel to life, I use three: a spicy green chutney made with coriander and mint, a sweet tamarind chutney, and a date chutney using dates and garlic. You can add a dash of chaat masala, a squeeze of lime, and a handful of sev on top and enjoy pure magic.
Why You Will Love This Homemade Bhel Puri
- Quick & Easy: No cooking needed. Just mix and serve!
- Customisable: Add more spice, extra chutney, or your favourite toppings.
- Perfect for Parties: Set up a DIY chaat bar and let everyone build their bowl.
- Healthy-ish: Light, low-fat, and full of texture. Skip frying; go fresh!
- Totally nostalgic: One bite takes you straight to the streets of Mumbai.
If you have ever wondered about the difference between sev puri vs bhel puri
Bhel Puri is made with puffed rice, onion, and tomatoes mixed. At the same time, Sev Puri has cooked legumes and potatoes stuffed in Puri and is assembled individually. Both are delicious chaats, but we are all about that classic homemade bhel puri today.
