What is #Blogging Marathon?
Blogging is what I have been doing for the last 8 years but I have become much more regular since I started Blogging Marathons!
What is #Blogging Marathon?
This was the question I was asked by the members on #The Goan Bloggers Lounge and was asked to speak on the subject.
Now Srivalli wants me to summarize it. I will try to do so to the best of my limited capacity.
Lets begin with lighting the lamp....
Dictionary meaning of Marathon is long distance running the actual distance 26 miles and 385 yards or 42.195 kms or a long lasting task or difficult activity.
What a daunting definition! Especially so for a person who is well educated in the horrors of online crimes, swindles and what not…
I joined the Blogging Marathon with no expectations, as by now I had joined some groups and I was not too happy with them.
This is where I began our journey with Blogging Marathon!
What we do in a marathon?
Every month we have a sign up for the next month's BM (that is Blogging Marathon). The marathon used to be for a full month in the past, but now it’s for 3 days in a week. The days that you blog are fixed and there are different themes every month and the signup is your choice. On the scheduled day you post, the chosen theme and that’s not the end you visit all the BM’ers and you comment on the post.
There are two special months April and September every year. I know the months roll and years fly, but still April and Sept are but Special!
Why special?
Because its mega marathon months we blog on a chosen theme month long.
We are quite democratic by the way and the choice is a mutual choice. The preparation for this start well in advance, do you know the April’16 theme has been decided before the Sept’15 Marathon could begin! In fact, we were quite insistent the we decide before hand well before some had started their preparations for Sept'15 marathon! They did moan and grumble but then they too participated wholeheartedly in the discussion.
People have made their lists and have started cooking too for April'16. It will not be long before we start asking for logos etc.
So what makes BM’ers different from others?
For one most of us are busy working ladies, but each is passionate about her cooking! Willing to go an extra mile just to do something for the other blogger! Yes, we nurture, help and each other skills.
The basic hand holding of new members, the encouragement we give for improving blog layout, post, pictures, sharing on social media is a norm. The closeness we have is something that I have never seen in any group.
This is closeness is cemented by the two meets we have had, one for BM#25 you can read my experience here, here and here and other for BM #50 again my take on the meet here, here and here. Now we are connected to one another not just with our blogs but with our families.
Here are some pictures and lots of laughter that went in making these pictures.
Rajani remember this picture?
Be it arranging a birthday party or a plain old family get together, you can be sure we know what is being done. For its first discussed in the group not just what is doable, but also how it will be doable. It’s a shame that some of us live out of town else I think we would have been in each other's kitchen making the arrangements.
I said we comment on the recipe, but wait, we do not comment just on the recipe, recipes you can Google and get a lot more than you can read, we believe that the blog is an extension of self and we do write an intro making it ours. Many a times I do believe I have never read the recipe, but have enjoyed the intro written by the blogger.
In the fast lifestyle that we live now, how can you live without the social connect?
This has become my extended family and will love to sign up for a lifetime marathon with my Blogging Marathon family.
This is my last post for Bloggers choice in month that was Sept'15. Where we bloggers have laid the #Buffet on Table. We promise to come back again on the on the 3rd Oct, 2015 with some more delicious themes. Do check us out then.
Till then Adieu!!
