My husband has totally stopped eating rice no matter what I tell him he will not listen so I try feeding him quinoa. For once, he accepted that he could eat quinoa. Therefore, I decided to try making a fusion dish and we liked it so looks like this dish is here to stay.

I love the green peas they are powerful little powerhouses of nutrition.

A great easy way to get a protein-rich diet.

The main ingredients of Quinoa Mutter Pulao are quinoa, peas, onions, garlic, ginger and ghee. In case you want to make it vegan avoid ghee.

Quinoa Matar Pulao

Quinoa Matar Pulao |Quinoa Peas Pulao

  • Serves: 4
  • Preparation time:  60 minutes
  • Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup quinoa soaked for 1 hour
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 inch sticks dalchini/cinnamon
  • 2  laung/cloves
  • 1 tejpatta/bay leaf
  • 2 tsp   green chillies finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup    onions finely chopped
  • 2  garlic cloves crushed
  • 1/4 tsp   ginger grated
  • salt to taste
  • 2 1/2 cups water

Method:

  • In a thick-bottomed vessel, heat ghee add the cinnamon, cloves, tejpatta/bay leaf until you get a distinctive aroma.
  •  Add the green chillies, garlic and ginger.
  •  Stir well then add onions stir-fry until translucent.
  •  Add quinoa along with the water and mix well.
  • Add water, salt.
  • Stir to mix and cook.
  • Add green peas and mix well.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat until fully done.
  • Keep stirring once a while.
  • Serve hot with raita.

    I am definitely not liking quinoa and there are still some little quantity in my fridge that needs to be finished ASAP before it expires… hehe… the pulao is a good way to use it up…
