  1. In a kadhai/wok heat oil.
  2. Add the kalonji seeds and cloves, if using, and stir-fry till you get a nice aroma.
  3. Add the chopped onion, haldi and the coriander seed powder. Stir-fry until onion is golden brown.
  4. Reduce the heat, add the papaya, salt and mix well.
  5. Cook covered, (I covered with a big plate on which I added water) until papaya is tender. I had to use about a tablespoon of water to prevent the vegetable burning.
  6. Serve hot.
